A Shy Little Girl

After spending the last half an hour reading other blogs, I have determined that my life is somewhat boring compared to the rest of you. I always loved listening to my former boss tell stories, because it didn't seem to matter what happened to her, she made it so exciting when she retold the story. I have come to realize that some of you have that gift with words. You can turn a first day of school, or an equipment malfunction into an exciting story. I think I just need to be better with pictures because somethings are better explained that way.

Ok, on to my story. I will do my very best to do this one justice. Today at dance we had about 15 little 3 year old's that were there for their "First Day of Ballet". I always love when the little one's come for their first day because almost all of them believe that all ballerina's do is spin in circles, and of coarse they love to show you. Today as we were getting ready to divide into two groups, we called one girls name (who will remain nameless) and she started screaming "I'm Shy, I'm Shy" now at this point we couldn't understand her, so we kept asking her what was wrong and she would scream louder "I'm shy, I'm shy" the funny thing was that this went on for about 2 minutes because we couldn't get her to move and we couldn't figure out what she was saying. When we finally figured it out, no one could understand what had triggered the tantrum, all we wanted her to do was line up and she drew all of the attention by screaming. I guess you just had to be there. Hopefully next week won't be so traumatic.

A Busy Week

As I went to bed Sunday night I told Jonathan that I almost felt like this was the first week of School. I cannot believe that Summer is over and the Fall semester is starting.

Yesterday was the first official day of Dance classes for Circle of Praise! I was so excited to see all the girls again. Classes went well, and I am ready to see all that God has planned for this upcoming year. We are working towards a ministry date in October, so we started off our first day with Choreography and I think the girls are really going to enjoy it.

Julie and I also started going to a Turbo Kick class in the mornings. It's three mornings a week, so hopefully we will be toned and in shape by the end of the 4 month class. :) I am a little sore today, but not to bad. (I only danced for 3 hours after working out for an hour yesterday morning)

Life has been busy lately and it really has me thinking about what is important. I have been so blessed in my life to have some amazing opportunities. It's always hard to say no to the good in search of what is best. There is a verse that I came across in my quiet time the other day that really has been stuck in my head lately so I thought I would share it.

2 Chronicles 31:21
Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.

My prayer is that every work which I begin will prosper. What God has really been trying to teach me is that I need to seek God in everything and work at what he has called me to do both by his word, and by his calling on my life with all my heart. Sometimes for me that means eliminating the "good" so I can focus on the "best".

The problem is that so often we are tied to the "good" because of relationships and it's hard to let go because we don't want to hurt someone, or maybe worse feel as if we are being rejected by them. Crazy how that works! My quiet time this morning was on rejection. I think it's so easy to get caught up in what the world says is important, often at the sacrifice of what God is calling us to do.

My challenge to you:
Seek out God's best in your life, Work at it with all your heart, and seek God in everything you do.

Almost Crawling

Yesterday morning we decided to give Zachary a haircut. He hasn't been feeling well, and he's just been wanting to lay around and be held. We decided to take the opportunity and use the lack of movement to our advantage. He didn't need much cut off just a little trim in the front and around the ears. Jonathan took on the role of barber and here is our end result.

This is the view from the front:

Here is the top view. I can't believe how thick his hair has gotten.

What you see him playing with is his new favorite toy. He's decided that he likes anything electronic (i.e. remotes, computers, keyboards, cell phones) and I have decided that a calculator looks a lot like a remote and he can't tell the difference. I have this blue calculator that I got recently and I decided to give it to him one day instead of the remote (After he pressed some buttons and I couldn't figure out how to work the TV) He loves it! I know he's going to be a math genius some day just like his dad :) Ha! how funny is that. When was the last time you saw a 7 month old playing with a calculator?

CRAWLING:
So, yesterday we saw Zachary actually "move forward" when he tried to crawl. He's been rolling over and reaching for stuff but yesterday was the first time he actually went anywhere. Today he moved almost 2 feet so I think our days of Zach staying in one place are almost over.

Here is Zach crawling for the first time

Here is what happens when he gets tired

Bedtimes & Busy Schedules

Ok, I think we are on a good path to a schedule. Zach is starting to go to bed about 8:00 and sleep till 7:30 or 8:00 in the mornings. I have been trying to be disciplined about his feedings and nap times during the day and I think it's helping, but I am not a disciplined person so this is stretching me.

We have been looking at all we have to do during the fall semester and my schedule is starting to fill up. I am hoping to start a fitness class at the church as well as a Bible Study so we will just have to see how busy life gets. I am ready for Zach to start playing with other kid's his age. I think he needs to learn how to share :) he's so used to having everything that he wants, that he's a little spoiled. Hopefully he will have a little more time in the nursery this fall and he will get used to the idea of sharing his toys.

Recently I have decided that I like the idea of using coupons and rebates to save money. I do the usual clipping coupons from the Sunday paper, but I have also started looking online for deals, and signing up for email newsletters to receive coupons. Here's a great deal that I got from Gymboree today. They are having a 30% off sale on Thursday, and if you spend $50.00 then you get $25.00 off a $50.00 purchase. :) I love sales! I think the link below should work, if not email me and I will forward it to you.

Not Ready for Bed

So, as I sit here Zachary has decided that he is not ready for bed yet. It's 9:20 and my 7 month old baby is playing quietly on the floor while I check my email and update this blog.

We've been traveling a lot this summer and last week in Destin his schedule got all messed up. He was going to bed by 9pm and sleeping till almost 8am before the trip began. However, now he doesn't want to go to bed till 10 and he wants to wake up twice during the night. Last night he cried for about 2 hours as I listened from the other room. I am trying to let him "cry it out" but I lay awake constantly trying to decide if I should just feed him so that I can get to sleep. I am just taking it one night at a time. He did sleep till 7:30 this morning so there is hope that he will be back on schedule soon.

Tomorrow Zachary and I are going to visit his great grandmother in Ft. Smith. We don't get to see her very much so it will be an exciting trip. Hopefully I will have some pictures to share after we get back!

Well, I am off to bed. Zach is finally asleep and I am hoping for a good night's sleep!

Catching Up

Well, Jonathan, Zachary and I just got back from a family vacation to Florida. So I feel as though I am just now catching up with life. Hopefully I will be blogging even more in the days to come.
